How to Use Your PDFs

Not tech-savvy? You're not alone. This page helps you set up a simple, stress-free way for your child to draw and learn in our PDFs.

Digital play & learning

Our PDFs are designed for use in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app — where your child can draw, trace, and color directly on the page.

  • Draw and color directly on the page
  • Trace and color letters inside the PDF
  • Practice fine motor skills
  • Swipe easily between pages
  • Save and come back later

Works with:
✓ iPad and iPhone (Apple Pencil compatible)
✓ Android tablets and phones
✓ Mac and Windows computers

Other PDF apps may work, but Adobe Acrobat Reader gives the most reliable experience.

We recommend staying nearby while your child uses the app, just in case a pop-up or upgrade message appears.

Prefer not to use an app?

You can print the PDFs and use them on paper. Our exercise PDFs are designed for full-screen digital use and don't include print margins. For best results, adjust your printer settings (for example: "Fit to page" or "Scale to fit").

Tip for parents 💛

Before your child starts, take a moment to read the short introduction inside the PDF for extra guidance.

Want to keep your child's work as a memory? You can make a copy (see step 10 below) and name it after your child. That way, you'll always have a clean version ready for next time or for sibling crews.

Quick Start Guide

First, download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app (53 MB)

→ For iPhone / iPad (iOS)

→ For Android phones / tablets

Step 1: Install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app and open it.

When the app opens for the first time, you may see a sign-in screen like this. You can sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, or Adobe to continue. Signing in helps your child's drawings save automatically inside the PDF. The free version is enough.

Step 1: Installing the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app on a phone or tablet to open Christian Kiddo PDFs.

Step 2: Stay on the free plan when Adobe offers a trial.

Tap "Continue" and choose the FREE plan by tapping: NOT NOW
⚠️ Do not tap the blue 7-day trial button.

Step 2: Choosing the free plan in Adobe Acrobat Reader and tapping “Not now” instead of starting the 7-day trial.

Step 3: Allow Adobe Acrobat Reader permission to open files on your device.

Tap "On device" and allow Adobe permission to access files on your phone, tablet, or laptop. You may see this message: "Please provide permission to access your files in the settings."
Tap "In the settings".

You'll do this once. It helps Adobe find your downloaded PDFs.

Step 3: Giving Adobe Acrobat Reader permission to access files on the device so PDF downloads can be opened.

Step 4: Turn on "Access all files" so Adobe can find your PDF downloads.

Tap "Go to settings" and turn access ON. This is safe. It only helps Adobe Acrobat Reader find the PDF files you downloaded on this device. After that, go back to the Adobe app.

Step 4: Tapping “Access all files” in Adobe Acrobat Reader so the app can find PDF files on the device.

Where does my PDF go after downloading?

When you download a PDF from the Learning Portal, it is saved to your device. On most devices, you'll find it in your Downloads or Files folder. From there, you can open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Step 9: Delete drawings (if needed)

Tap the three dots in the top corner of the screen and choose Comments list. You will see all the drawings your child made in the PDF. Tap the three dots next to a drawing to delete it if needed.

Your child's drawings are saved automatically. Even if the app is closed, the work will still be there when you open the PDF again.

Step 10 (continued): Name your copy

Choose a new file name, for example by adding your child's name. The green confirmation screen shows that the copy is saved and will open the new file for you.

Step 10b: Naming a copied PDF file and confirming the save action in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

FAQ

Adobe offers a 7-day trial — what should I tap?

Tap "Not Now" to stay on the free plan. The free version is enough for drawing and coloring in the Christian Kiddo PDFs.

The PDF doesn't open — what do I do?

Check whether Adobe Acrobat Reader has permission to access your files. On many devices, you may need to allow file access in your device settings.

I can see the PDF, but I can't draw or color.

Make sure the PDF is opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader — not in a browser preview (like Safari or Chrome) and not in another PDF app.

I want to print — but parts are cropped.

Adjust your printer scaling so the full page fits correctly (for example: Fit to page or Scale to fit). The exercise PDFs are designed for full-screen use, so printing may crop the edges if scaling is not adjusted. The other PDFs in the bundle are designed to print normally.
